People make the project
Bring a skill. Build a skill. Make something happen.
You don't need to know how to repair an appliance to have something valuable to contribute. Getting useful goods back into circulation takes practical work, creative ideas, clear communication and good organisation.
We're gathering expressions of interest from people who want to help, learn or share their experience. Tell us what interests you, what you can already do and what you would like to try.
A place for different kinds of contribution.
Practical preparation and repair
Cleaning, sorting, completing items, suitable repair work and helping keep a safe, organised workspace. Experienced specialists can also help shape appropriate processes and support others as opportunities develop.
Photography, video and social media
Make product photographs, reels, short films and stories that show the work clearly. Plan content, edit footage, develop ideas or help useful updates reach the right people.
Online selling and digital work
Help prepare accurate listings, maintain product information, organise images, improve the website or support the systems behind the shop.
People, sales and organisation
Contribute to customer communication, stock records, administration, local events, partnership conversations or the day-to-day coordination that keeps work moving.
Experience you can point to.
A carefully edited video, a well-photographed product and an accurately prepared order all demonstrate skill. We want people seeking experience to have useful responsibilities, appropriate support and recognition for the work they complete.
Our aim is to agree what each person wants to get from their involvement and help them build evidence of achievement through feedback, references, credited work or portfolio material where appropriate. Meeting a brief, responding to feedback and delivering reliable work matter across the whole enterprise.
You may also simply want to contribute a few hours doing something useful in good company. Not everyone needs a career plan to be welcome.
Building opportunities with others.
We hope to begin informal volunteer training during autumn and winter. We want to work with colleges and other organisations towards agreed work placements and vocational qualification routes. Those are aims to develop with partners, not confirmed placements or accredited courses.
Practical, creative, digital, administrative and people-facing work all offer ways to contribute. Opportunities will grow around suitable space, supervision and available resources. Paid local work is a longer-term aim, not a current vacancy promise.
Practical help and shared learning
From November 2026, Ian plans to run two sessions a month in Muirkirk, alternating drop-ins and workshops at the HUB with talks and training at the community rooms. Sessions will cover general technology help, practical training and security awareness. Exact dates and times will be published once confirmed.
Once we have a fixed location, drop-ins will be available there. Talks and training will continue at the HUB or community rooms, with a monthly programme planned at that stage. Drop-in availability will be published when the location and staffing arrangements are settled.
If the HUB or community rooms can donate facility time, or choose to become more involved, we'll increase provision in line with the people, time and resources available.

Practical, creative, digital or something we haven't thought of yet: we would like to hear from you. You can register an interest in helping now, future opportunities, sharing expertise or supporting the project in another way.
Opportunities will take shape around the space, supervision and resources available. Starting the conversation now helps us build around real interests and useful skills.
