Muirkirk, East Ayrshire
Good things deserve another go.
muirmend is a reuse-and-repair enterprise in Muirkirk. Our starting model brings together selectively bought auction parcels and a charity-shop electricals pilot, recovering useful goods and creating local opportunity.
Good in Store is our shopfront and wider project. Our first items will be listed very soon, bringing together fair prices, honest descriptions and a purpose rooted in our community.
Where things stand
We're seeking partners and agreements, and working with community organisations to move proofs of concept into manageable trials. Our aim is useful local services, opportunities to build skills and, over time, sustainable paid local work.
We can't promise to do everything or achieve every aim. We can start with useful work, be open about where things stand and build from there. Local ideas, questions, concerns and offers of help are welcome.
Start a conversationUseful goods. Fair prices. Local opportunity.
A return isn't always the end of an item's useful life. Opened packaging, a cosmetic mark or a repairable fault can put otherwise valuable goods out of circulation. We look for the useful life that remains and do the work needed to make the most of it.
The goods matter, and so do the opportunities around them. Our aim is to turn the value we recover into practical experience, affordable purchases and, as the enterprise grows, paid local work.
See what we do
Good in StoreGood in Store opens very soon.
Our first stock is being prepared for sale. Expect an evolving selection shaped by what we recover, with clear information about condition, completeness and the work each item has needed.
Some goods will be offered at a fixed price, while selected items may go to auction. The aim is straightforward: useful things at sensible prices, with the value of each sale helping the enterprise move forward.
Visit the shop pageThere's more than one way to make a difference.
A repaired item needs a good photograph, an accurate listing and someone to help it reach its next owner. A growing community enterprise also needs creative ideas, organised records, reliable communication and people willing to share what they know.
We welcome interest in practical, creative, digital, administrative and customer-facing work. Tell us what you enjoy, what you can contribute and what you would like to learn.
Get involvedHelp give the work room to grow.
Our charity-shop electricals pilot is an immediate priority alongside auction stock. We're looking for suitable donations, competent electrical support, working space and help with essential equipment. Each stream can progress without waiting for the other.
Our roots are in Muirkirk. We want the work and opportunity we build here to remain here, supported by relationships that are useful to our partners as well as to the community.
